With folks like Kathy Sullivan and director James Cameron having been in the news for their work in visiting the deepest place in the ocean: Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, we wondered where the trench actually is on the planet and what kind of mapping might exist.
This spot found in the pacific ocean is as deep as manhattan is long. There is a lot of science around even being able to get to this place, which is part of what's probably interested me through much of my childhood. If you are inclined to, I can't recommend digging further into this topic enough--though its less a date-night virtual vacation activity than other places (unless you and your partner are nerds like me!)
